Wrapping the brotli compression algorithm?

Has anyone taken a look at wrapping

https://github.com/google/brotli

If not, this may be a good project to suggest for those wanting to get their feet wet in Julia programming.

 What's the advantage of this over the many other choices for compression these days?  e.g. liblzma from xz-utils?

It has some pretty impressive benchmarks, see http://www.gstatic.com/b/brotlidocs/brotli-2015-09-22.pdf page 4 for results.
